For those of you that do know me, you will say that I "LOVE TO SHOP!" LOL! Especially for shoes! Smh...there's no secret about that! ;-) But when I tell you, that I can find SALES, you better believe me on that one! =)

Anyway since I'm planning my sister's wedding (September 24, 2011) as well as taking on the role as one of her bridesmaid.....of course I had to do a little shopping for a dress! By the way I think I may have found my bridesmaid dress!! It's from David's Bridal since they happened to have the right "Apple Red" color my sister wanted. Love this dress! Its so fun, elegant, and chic! =) AND...its on SALE! Yay! Even better! Hopefully I will still LOVE IT when I make plans to try it on this weekend! Simply Unique Weddings & Events is proud to announce that we can FINALLY offer Photography Services along with our Wedding Planning & Rental services we currently offer. We're so excited about this new chapter opening with this business called "Native Eyes Photography by Mary Poston". Some of you already knew about it since I started making hints about it last year, but for those of you who didn't...no worries! When you get a chance, check out the {website}. Some asked if I would be taking a BREAK from wedding & event planning and to answer that question....NO OF COURSE NOT! Weddings will always be my PASSION as well as my main focus. So it works out "OH SO WELL" together :-) I bought my first Nikkon Camera last fall, took some time to get to know my camera, did some shots the last several months and I am ready to roll! LOL! Disney World! Who wouldn't want to go there :-) I was actually working on vacation plans tonight, boyfriend and I plan to go to Disney World sometime in November 2011...can't wait! But while I was working on those plans I started thinking about "Disney Weddings" and what it would be like to get married there :-) I'm sure its been a dream of most girls to get married there...including me (I must admit). Yup I said it...CARNATIONS for your wedding or event! Some you might be saying "I'm not a big fan of carnations"...or "Carnations are sort of the ugly duckling of flowers"...or whatever you reasons may be. Ever heard of the saying "One bad apple spoils the brunch"? Well that's how carnations seemed to get treated as...and I find that very interesting.

But to be honest with you...personally, I've always loved carnations myself... and trust me when I say that carnations can be chic & beautiful when used the right way at an event...especially a wedding.

You might be thinking in your head, "Mary...why should I choose carnations over other flowers that I have in mind?". Well I'd say, think of it this way...Carnations equals:

BUDGET FRIENDLY: (And all of you brides out there know you LOVE this word!) Carnations are a lot cheaper than most flowers. I believe the last quote I got for carnations ranges from $1.50-2.00 a stem...maybe lower or higher depending on where you're located.

COLORS: Carnations comes in so many different colors from red, green, blue, orange, pink, yellow, white, and etc. Carnations can also be dyed or tinted to match your color scheme. So take your pick because you can't go wrong with choosing colors for carnations!

Hi everybody! I know its been a while since I last blogged but worry no more! I am back for good and I promise to keep up with it. First of all I want to say that I hope everyone had a fabulous Holiday as well as a Happy New Year 2011. I wish all of you lots of love and blessings for 2011 and beyond. This year is going to be "FAB" and its all about "New Beginnings"! Speaking of new beginnings there are some things that I have been working on...and I can't wait to reveal them

one by one! So make sure you check back often!

Now back to the fabulous and cute cake toppers! :o) I found this site called www.wedzu.com...and it kind of reminds me of Etsy (a site I absolutely love by the way). Anyway while I was checking them out I came across this seller named "Ready Go"....and they had these fabulous little cake toppers that were so different and unique! Its a great way to personalize your next party, wedding, or event. I plan to use these in one of my escort card table design! Ideas! Ideas!

KICKING OFF THE WEEKEND WITH: FALL CRAFTS!

I love Fall! Why? Because it lets me know that the Holidays are just around the corner! And for those of you who know me well, you'll say that I'm obsessed with the Holidays! Hahaha! I just love it! I'll be sharing with you a decor that I did in my home soon...you might laugh and say "She's crazy!" or you might say "Hey, that's not such a bad idea".....so be sure to keep checking back to find out what I did ;o) For all you early birds who love to start your Fall/Thanksgiving decoration early (like me), here are some crafty ideas for you. Need a candle holder? Why not use mini pumpkins and tea lights?! Its very simple to make! All you have to do is:

Trace out the tea light outline on top of the pumpkin
Cut along the line (you can use sharp knife or scissors...whichever is easier)
And then finally, using a sharp knife, pry out the top and place your tea light inside!

And there you have it! Your mini-pumpkin tea light holder! Need some Fabulous tea lights?? No worries! Shop with us {here} for all of your candles, holiday decor, or any of the home decor items you may need! You won't regret it! We have holiday scents that is an absolute MUST HAVE!

Think you might have some extra pumpkins leftover after Halloween? Not sure what to do with it? No worries! You can use them as centerpieces or vases to display your fall flowers, candles, etc.

Carve out the top and scoop out the seeds
Cut and shape "floral foam" to fit at the bottom of your pumpkin
After you placed the foam in the pumpkin begin pressing your flowers so that they stay in place (and hydrated)...and there you have it!

You're ready to start placing your vases where ever you see fit! Simple as that! :o) Enjoy!

SIGNATURE DRINKS FRIDAY: RED!

This signature drink collection is all about the color "RED"! Anyone using red as part of their color theme for an upcoming wedding or soiree? Then you just might try to find a way to incorporate these fabulous and delicious drinks into your event!
Even if you just one of the ones that love the color red, then that's alright too! Join the party! :o)

1. Disaronno Cosmo

1 ounce amaretto di saronno liqueur
1 ounce Bacardi Limon
1 ounce cranberry juice (recipe calls for a dash, more folks seem to prefer an ounce)

2. Divatini

1 ounce limoncello
1 ounce premium vodka
1/2 ounce ruby red grapefruit juice
1/2 ounce cranberry juice
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1 lemon twist, garnish

3. Jamaica Margarita
Ingredients:
1 cup dried hibiscus blossoms (about 2 ounces) 3 cups water 3/4 cup sugar 1 1/4 cups
tequila 1/2 cup fresh lime juice 1/3 cup Triple Sec or other orange-flavored liqueur 8 lime slices

Directions:
Place blossoms in a strainer; rinse under cold water. Combine blossoms,

water, and sugar in a medium saucepan; bring to a boil. Reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes. Strain; discard blossoms. Cover and chill hibiscus mixture.

Combine hibiscus mixture, tequila, juice, and Triple Sec. Serve over ice. Garnish with lime slices.

4. POM-ELA

mls of 42 BELOW Kiwifruit

3 Lime wedge

1 dash of Lime Juice

60 mls of Pomegranate Juice

60 mls of Soda Water

1 bar spoon of Sugar

In a Highball glass, combine sugar and 42 BELOW Kiwifruit, stir well, and fill with ice. Add juices, top with soda, and stir to serve.

5. Cranberry Margarita

1-1/2 shots JOSE CUERVO ESPECIAL TEQUILA

1 shot cranberry juice cocktail

1/4 cup whole cranberry sauce

1/2 shot Cointreau

Ice

Whole fresh cranberries — for garnish

Lime wheel — for garnish

Combine all ingredients, except garnish, in a blender. Blend on high until smooth and frothy. Pour into a margarita glass. Garnish with cranberries skewered with a toothpick and a lime wheel.

6. Basic Sangria

1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja reds, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
1 Lemon cut into wedges
1 Orange cut into wedges
2 Tbsp sugar
1 Shot brandy
2 Cups ginger ale or club soda

Preparation:

Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice wedges from the lemon and orange into the wine. Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out seeds if possible) and add sugar and brandy. Chill overnight. Add ginger ale or club soda just before serving.

If you’d like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice.

Addition ideas: sliced strawberries, peaches, handful of fresh blueberries, raspberries, kiwi, a shot or two of gin, brandy or rum, a cup of ginger ale, citrus soda pop or lime juice.
***These are just some samples of what you and your guests can have at your wedding or next party! Remember: think about the ones that don't drink as well....be sure to get creative and make some of the drinks non-alcoholic as well! It works out both ways! Hi everyone & Happy Thursday! I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend! I had a blast! Its great to be around family and those you love :o) Anywho...

I was browsing on Google checking out wedding photos of place cards, and etc and came across these FAB photos of ring boxes being used as place cards! I have never seen something like this done before and I think they're very unique and modern! What a great idea!

I wish I would've found them earlier or I would've never gotten rid of my empty ring/jewelry boxes LOL!

It's "Signature Drinks Friday!"....I will be posting FAB drink recipes for you every Friday..or other Fridays lol :o) Feel free to use them at your wedding or next party that you host! Get creative with it....sky's the limit! Enjoy!

1. Watermelon cooler

Ingredients

4 cups 2-inch cubes watermelon
1 cup vodka, chilled
2 tablespoons honey (see note)
Garnish: small watermelon wedges with rind (optional)

Directions

Freeze the watermelon chunks in a zip-top plastic bag until just frozen, about 1 hour. Remove from the freezer and add to a blender. Pour in the vodka and honey. Process until blended and pour into frosted cocktail or jelly glasses. Garnish, if desired.

2. Blackberry smash

Ingredients

10 fresh mint leaves
16 fresh blackberries
1/2 cup rye whiskey
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons simple syrup
1/2 cup ginger ale, plus more for topping off
Garnish: skewers of fresh blackberries (optional)

Directions

Muddle the mint and blackberries in a cocktail shaker. Add the whiskey, lemon juice, simple syrup, and ½ cup ginger ale. Add ice and mix with bar spoon (don’t shake—remember there’s ginger ale in there). Pour into wide-mouth or tall cocktail glasses filled with ice. Top off with extra ginger ale to taste. Garnish, if desired.

3. Kiwi kiss

Ingredients

1 kiwi fruit, peeled and sliced
3/4 ounce lemongrass syrup
1/2 ounce soju
6 ounces dry sparkling sake, such as Zipang
1 thick slice of kiwi, cut into a square, for garnish
6-inch section of fresh lemongrass, cleaned and peeled, for garnish

Directions

Add the peeled kiwi slices to a rocks glass along with the lemongrass syrup and soju. Using a muddler, mash the kiwi. Fill the glass three-quarters full with ice. Top with the sparkling sake. Use a metal cocktail pick to make a hole through the square slice of kiwi. Thread the kiwi slice onto the lemongrass “spear” as a garnish.

4. Blush punch

Ingredients

One 12-ounce container frozen pink lemonade concentrate, thawed
4 cups cranberry juice cocktail
4 cups club soda, chilled
Garnish: lemon curls (optional)

Directions
Combine the pink lemonade concentrate and cranberry juice cocktail in a large pitcher or container. Stir in the club soda just before serving. Pour into champagne flutes. Garnish, if desired.

I was doing some research recently on unique favor ideas and came across one that I had to share with all of you...HOMEMADE LEMONADE FAVORS!!!! For those of you looking for something different, fun, and creative...looking for the perfect idea for your summer wedding or bridal shower? Trust me, you're going to love this!

All you have to do is use your favorite lemondade recipe (be sure to make a large batch of them), then use those fabulous Italian bottles (from Ikea) to package them! Then last but not least, decorate them with cutom labels, ribbons, or anything that matches your wedding or bridal shower theme, and then enjoy!!!!!

CHRISTMAS WEDDING THEME: CANDY CANES!

Anyone planning to marry during the Christmas Holidays 2010? If so, why not plan ahead and begin looking for inspirations for your Christmas wedding! It's the most wonderful and festive time of the year! Enough to give you lots of great ideas.

I love candy canes and I am sure that a majority of you do as well. So why not use candy canes as your wedding inspiration! The stripes of the candy cane and color palette of red and white is enough to get you started!

Some ideas.....candy canes & roses, chocolate dipped peppermint sticks, and of course candy cane cocktails.

TIS THE SEASON FOR WINTER WEDDINGS!

Since we are currently in the winter wedding season...and since I absolutely LOVE Christmas and it falls in the winter wedding season; I am absolutely positive that there are brides-to-be out there looking for winter wedding ideas!

Most winter weddings consists of whites, creams, silver, metallic, blues and everything and anything that sparkles! Check out this inspiration board by "The Finer Things". I love how it shows a fabulous wintry combination of silver and white! This idea can be used anywhere..whether you're having a winter wedding in the north or south or anywhere you choose!

Tips: Take advantage of snowy backdrops! Get inspired and take pictures outside in the snow in locations that inspire you!

And now my absolute favorite....Christmas Weddings! Into Christmas as much as I am? You can have a very "Marry" Christmas any way you choose! Use different shades of reds, greens, and browns; and top it off with ornaments, bells, wreaths, holly, mistletoe, berries, Christmas trees and more!

Tips: If you are planning to have a Winter or Christmas Wedding for 2010 or 2011, be sure to plan ahead and take advantage of any or all the after-Christmas sales this year. You will definitely save a ton of money this way!

RAINBOW WEDDING

Rainbows can be beautiful, whimsical, unique, and very meaningful. Anyone every thought of including rainbow in their wedding?

Rainbow weddings can symbolize two things:

HAPPINESS AND JOY: Rainbows commonly represents the beauty that comes after a storm or rain. Couples interested in a rainbow wedding can use this idea to show that they have finally found "Joy and Happiness" in their love; despite the trials, tribulations, and 'storms' of the outside world.
CHRISTIAN SYMBOLISM: For those who are Christians, a rainbow wedding can definitely be significant to the symbol used in the Old Testament to signify God's promise to his people: "I am putting my rainbow in the clouds as the sign of the agreement between me and the earth" (Genesis 9:13 NIV). A rainbow wedding can be represented as the couple's faith or of their marital union.

THEME OF THE DAY: RED CORAL

Since we're getting into doing more Destination Weddings, I've decided to do some research to post ideas, decor, and inspirations for those either planning or interested in having a Destination Wedding in the future. Our theme for today is "Red Coral"! I think its very simple, vibrant, chic, and very modern.

CREATIVE WAYS TO SAY "I DO"

His & Hers Slimline Ring Cases

I absolutely love finding out and learning new things everyday, especially if it has anything to do with wedding/event planning....fashion...you name it and I want to know more about it! A friend of mine mentioned to me a few days ago, about the "His & Hers Slimline Ring Cases"; which I thought were pretty amazing! You can find this on the Dieline's blog post. The idea that the ring cases were not your typical ring boxes; and I also loved the fact that they are not only slim (of course!) but they are modern, chic, and very unique.

I thought that this would be fabulous in other colors as well, but when we contacted the company, we found out that they currently only make them in black. So we came across another blogger (Miss Gloss) who ended up loving the slimline ring case idea and made her own. Here are some photos of her DIY works.....

She did a pretty amazing job for a first timer don't you think!

Looks like I'll be giving it a shot for myself soon!

Miss Gloss shared her tips on how she made her slimline ring case:

"With the His and hers slimline ring boxes, I included my wedding date and inscribed on the back. I measured the diameter and height of our rings to ensure a snug fit and cut the pieces out using a laser cutter. I then used spray mount to hold the pieces together. Each ’box’ has a top and a bottom held closed with white elastics. It’s a pretty simple concept, but we are pretty simple people."

We would like to thank her for sharing her tips as well as her DIY project! Can't wait to get started on making our own for the very firs time, and when we get to it, we'll definitely post our work here on the blog to show you the end results!

Saving Your Seats

Okay let's be real here everyone....it is quite obvious as to where the bride and groom sit at their own wedding reception. Many are known to go the traditional way and have a head table or sweetheart table, either way, the newly married couple usually knows where they should sit. And of course no guest in their right mind would dare sit there!

I took the liberty of researching some bride & groom signs for wedding receptions just to see what creative ideas were out there. Here is what we came up with.....

It's very simple and cute and it's another way to be able to personalize your wedding incorporating your colors, theme, and etc.

We love that it doesn't always have to be over the top (unless of course that's what you want)....it can just be simple, clean, and elegant!

Wedding or Event Insurance...Is it necessary???

Lately I have had several brides ask me this question from time to time. So I thought now would be a great time to try answer those questions the best I can for those of you that are interested in this as well; or may have been thinking about it.

I know that every bride every once in a while may picture in the back of her mind the inevitable happening and gets to thinking "Oh that's not going to happen to me on my wedding day!"....but the question is..."what happens when it really does"? Should you carry insurance for your wedding or event?

You can plan the perfect event and you may even spend a lot of money just to ensure that your event goes just right, and at the blink of an eye; all of that time you spent planning the wedding and the money you've invested into it can all go right down the drain. I know it sounds horrible, but these things really do and can happen even if you do everything right. But don't fret too much because there is an insurance that can protect you in circumstances like these!

There are a lot of insurance carriers out there that are willing to offer you protection and can even assist you in recovering your losses in the case of unforeseen disasters that may occur at your wedding or event.

I found a website... www.wedsafe.com/ that basically shared some real life stories that went wrong at a wedding or event that they actually covered. Here are some examples:

Wedding venue originally expected to open in time for a wedding, but construction completion date was pushed back and the wedding had to be rescheduled. Amount reimbursed through 'Event Cancellation' coverage- $17,694.87

Customer received message from the photographer saying he was out of business, would not be attending the wedding and would not be refunding the deposit. Amount reimbursed through 'Loss of Deposits' coverage- $1,515

Bride and Groom held responsible for damaged carpet at a reception. Claim paid by 'Property Damage' coverage- $5,523.81

Ten inches of rain fell in Virginia, State Highway 10 was closed. Bridal party members and guests couldn't get to the reception site. Band, food, cake, flowers, photos all had to be cancelled. Amount reimbursed through 'Event Cancellation' coverage- $25,000

Groom experienced chest pains and went to the hospital. Newly diagnosed heart condition forced him to postpone the wedding. Amount reimbursed through 'Event Cancellation' coverage- $28,907.45

Our advice to you is.....ALWAYS BE PREPARED! Because bad things can really happen to good people whether we believe it or not. You're investing a lot of money into your wedding or event..so why not invest in "Event Insurance" to ensure that you and your fiance are covered in case of unwanted disasters?

Unique Cake Toppers

Question for you....

Have you ever had a moment where you got to thinking about what you could possibly use as your cake topper for your cake on your wedding or event day?

For those of you that are thinking "yes" and you're thinking about using cake toppers for sure, here's an option I hadn't considered before. That is until I found these.....

They're quite interesting and very unique! The last photo is my favorite because it gives off that rustic and whimsical feeling. This would be perfect for anyone planning a wedding that involves "rustic" as part of their theme/decor.

Just recently, in the midst of doing research, I came across a site called Raise the Cake and I thought that their ideas were fierce! Ever thought of how you can find elegant & creative ways decorate your cake table or incorporate your cake stand as part of the decor aspects of your wedding or event? Well think no more! Because "Raise the Cake" has found a solution that all of us can use!

"Raise the Cake" allows you to be able to create your own custom cake stands; how fabulous is that! You can actually go on their website and shop their online selections of ribbons, fabrics, other decor, and bling (which most of us love!) to create and design your very own personal and unique cake stand. The stands are available up to three sizes and you can not only use them for your wedding or event cake, but for cupcakes as well.

Now for those of you that are thinking to yourselves, "I'm not so creative", worry no more! "Raise the Cake" also has a selection of pre-designed cake stands for you to choose from as well. Simply Unique Weddings & Events would like to begin taking the time to out to start introducing and recognizing couples who have booked our services for their wedding day. Although we have them featured on our website as "Meet our Couples!", we would also like to feature them on our blog as well.

Here is one of our newest & fabulous couple we booked not very long ago; Laura & Craig! Their wedding will be taking place in Buffalo, NY on August 22, 2009.

Our next fabulous couple is Danielle & Nathan! Their wedding will be taking place in New York City, NY on September 12, 2009.

This fabulous & unique couple, Lindsey & Henry! Will be having a destination wedding at the Woodloch Resort in Hawley, PA on October 18, 2009.

And last but not least fabulous couple, Ingrid & Warren! Their wedding will be taking place in Pittsburgh, PA on August 28, 2010.

Simply Unique Weddings & Events finally has a brand new logo!!!! (Applause! Applause!) I have been waiting a while for this and I'm so very excited and pleased with the logo that will be representing Simply Unique Weddings & Events! Here are one of the logos (my favorite color by the way):

I absolutely love Etsy! How could you not! I spend a lot of time browsing through, looking for exciting, creative, and new things to try! So Imagine my surprise when I came across these "Welcome" signs on Style Me Pretty, (courtesy of Etsy seller The Wedding Chicks). They are just super chic, elegant, and fabulous!!!! Personalized Custom Maps

That's it Brides! I've done my homework! Say good-bye to hand drawn maps and Hello to Custom Maps! Here are some of the questions that were recently asked:

"Hi Mary, I have a question for you if you don't mind helping. Do you think it would be tacky if I drew my own map of directions to the church and reception and include it in my invitations?" -Mandy
"Mary, I have been trying to find a place that does maps for invitations, do you have any suggestions of where I could go?" -Lori
"Mary I need HELP PLEASE!! I'm about a week late in my deadline to send out invitations, but I need to include directions to the sites. Please tell me you know where to get personalized maps created! I would like to have them sent out with my invitations ASAP! " -Marvina

I was doing some research earlier looking for favors with chocolate in it, and guess what I found! .....S'MORES!!!! Do you know that I haven't had S'mores since I was a kid!? I was blown away when I saw just how creative and unique they were!

As I have mentioned before, I am an active member in my church (Cornerstone Liberty Community Church) working with our Youth Group (Chosen Ones & Chosen Too). Not long ago, we worked very hard to come together and not only perform at the game but also to hopefully minister to the people through our music, mime, & dance. And as a result, they put on a fabulous performance during half-time at the Erie Bayhawks Game, and I couldn't have been more proud of them! There were over 4,000 people in attendance that day! Amazing! I'm still in awe over that day, the kids blew me away! Here is the article from the Erie Times News that was written about that day:

Just recently, I was going through some of the items in my Wedding Day Emergency Kit and came across one of the products called "Wine Out". It made me think back to all of the questions that I have received numerous times from brides asking me "Which product is best for removing unwanted stains from a wedding dress?" Well ladies and gentlemen, here you have it...it's called "WINE OUT"! (Applause!!!!)

I absolutely love 'Wine Out' better than any other stain removing product. I've used it to remove lipstick, make-up, blood, dirt, grass stains, and more from bride's/bridesmaid's dresses and even suits! Lately I have been receiving a lot responses from brides and clients who are very concerned about today's economy. Many of the brides & grooms are concerned that they are not going to be able to have or afford the wedding of their dreams. Here is a question that was recently asked:

Q: "Mary, the economy is so bad right now and I'm worried that I won't be able to afford my dream wedding. I seriously don't want to have to push back my wedding date or change anything else that's already being booked and planned. What is your opinion on all this?"

A: I am going to tell you what I have been telling all of the brides lately; "Do not let the economy get in the way of planning the wedding of your dreams"! Isn't that why you are hiring a wedding planner? Your personal wedding planner is supposed to be your money saver! As your wedding planner one of our jobs would definitely be to guide you in the right direction as far as helping you save your hard earned money!!! We are on your side! We are here to listen to you, to work within your budget, and to give you that spectacular wedding you've always dreamed of regardless of what's going on in today's economy. Since we are all living in the same economy, we do understand our bride's situation as far as spending and saving on their dream wedding. One of the greatest things about my business and myself is that we can definitely bargain shop!!! I never pay full price for anything! And I'm still using that strategy in this business as well So trust me when I say that "thrifty spending" is in my blood! (I have my mother to thank for that hahaha!) So this is another great way that a wedding planner can help you save money as well. My motto is "Nothing is impossible..." your dream wedding or event is not impossible as long as you think and plan smart.

Ok listen up all you newly engaged ladies! You're engaged... you've set the date... and now its time to get the ball rolling! Now and days weddings are starting to be planned as far as 18 months in advance! So if you don't want to be the one to get "second options" instead of first, then get your vendors/venues contracted now!!! (Hint: "CONTRACT"...very important!) Ladies, please remember to READ them CAREFULLY and ASK questions when you don't understand something! Doing this will help determine the kind of wedding day you'll have. TRUST ME! You don't want to end up like this bride down below! So make sure you have a plan and or a PLANNER!

Here's a tip: You can enjoy your engagement period by either hiring help to assist you in your planning or come up with a schedule/timeline and sticking to it.

Love is definitely in the air! I'd just like to take a moment and wish everyone a very, very Happy Valentine's Day! All of you are just so special and dear to me and I just want to wish you all, a day and a lifetime... of true love and happiness!
I will be spending my day working on the finishing touches of a teenager's birthday party tonight entitled "Hottie's Day Parade"! Must be nice to have a birthday on Valentine's Day! I will be sure to take lots of pictures and post them on Snapshots! I will also be out shopping and making special arrangements to surprise the love of my life Todd, of 7 years, with a gift that expresses how much I truly love him. I look forward to that moment ;)

In Love with Color!

Are you the type of person who are sick of seeing the same basic colors on everything? Then why not spice up your wedding or event with some bold colors! Start creating a wedding scrapbook! You can use this to keep track of your favorite colors, ideas, theme, inspirations, and many more for your event! This will come in handy when planning your wedding or event from color, theme, decor, and right down to the very last detail! So basically, wherever you go...your book goes! The only hard part about doing this is deciding on your color palette.

Here are some ideas in helping you choose your color palette:

1. Your Favorite piece of jewelry: What color is your favorite bracelet, earrings, necklace? Are they modern, chic, classic? You can use this as a starting point!

2. Seasons: Take your cues from the colors of the seasons. You can choose between pastels, bright and bold colors, or use a combination of both. You'd be surprised at what you might come up with!

3. Invitations & Stationary: This is another great way to decide on color palette. With all of its fabulous designs and colors, you may even find one that will be the inspiration of your wedding or event designs!

4. Location: If you have already booked your ceremony & reception site, take into consideration the decor of the sites such as: wall color, carpeting, scenery (if outside site), and other accents.

5. Culture: In particular cultures, certain colors are very symbolic. Such as red is a favored color for Chinese Weddings because it symbolized Good Fortune. Or in India, red means the color of purity (used in wedding outfits).

6. Cocktail Drinks: Ever been amazed at the color of your drink? Maybe you thought that the hot pink Cosmo or fabulous green Apple martini would be a great mixture of colors! Who would've ever thought that you could create such a color palette watching a bartender mix your drinks! An idea to ponder on whenever you're out ;)

7. Fabrics: Going to a fabric store or using a fabric book, is a great way to explore the different colors, texture, and designs that fabrics have to offer. You may even find the perfect fabric for your wedding dress or bridesmaids dresses.

**These were just some of the creative ideas used in selecting color palettes. Have fun with it!
